Welcome to my portfolio website. I’ve been frequently asked: “So, you’re a book designer?” “What DO or CAN a graphic designer do?” “Can you illustrate?” “Can you make logo designs?” “Have you done BIG posters or can you make infographics?” “Can you roll out deliverables for a marketing campaign?” “Have you done product designs?” Hmm, and the list of questions goes on and on.
To answer some of these questions, I thought, what better way is there than to showcase what I Do base on a JOB SCOPE that is more relatable—graphic design works for different business and marketing situations created through the years at Cengage Learning Asia.
In the category, At a Glance, features works done before Cengage Learning Asia which is being updated from time to time.
Cengage Learning ASIA | August 1 2009 to April 30 2019
I joined Cengage Learning Asia, Singapore, as a Senior Graphic Designer for Chinese Language Teaching unit creating Chinese textbooks in Content Development and Design. Before this full-time appointment, I have been in Graphic Design for at least 15 years spanning across different industries. I was freelancing for at least another 3 years with Thomson Publishing before it became Cengage Learning. At Thomson Publishing, I began as a student book content illustrator for English Language Teaching - Global ELT unit and later got into designing book covers and creating English textbooks. Years of experience in Graphic Design, and a bilingual language background (in Chinese and English) came in handy and paved the way to a full-time placement when the Chinese department was later established.
In 2011, I was promoted to Creative Manager and headed the Creative department, Back Office Support. In a team comprising two other designers, we were tasked to provide design support, in print and web designs, for 4 business units (also see “Cengage Asia”), overall company corporate, business, products and services, advertising, marketing and promotion deliverables to 11 Cengage Learning branch offices in Asia, partners, third-party service providers and vendors. Collaborated with and worked alongside editors, sales, products, marketing, human resources, company rights, legal and compliance. I was personally tasked to oversee all company branding matters, applications across business units, products and services designs amongst other creative responsibilities.

Creative Sensibility
A designer who possesses a chameleon-like sensitivity—an inert ability that compliments different industry with ease. In a world where change is constant, to adapt and strive in different business scenarios and demands, only makes one creatively nimble and well-rounded. THIS is my professional approach that helps me manoeuvre seamlessly, and perform at my best from one industry to another. And THAT is what this PORTFOLIO collection aims to demonstrate.
